Ben Lukas Boysen — Nocturne 1

Опубликовано: 18 окт. 2013 г.Track 2/8, from Gravity (Ad Noiseam adn168).

Nocturne 1 introduces the drums, with a deep kick and brush sticks used on the snare and the cymbals, gently caressed by the metallic wires. Add a touch of reverberation and you get an ethereal drumming part, perfectly in harmony with the whole mood of the album.

I can't help air drumming in this track, I just love this soft style, giving a rhythm to the song, making it more aerial, but never getting the upper hand on the piano that leads the track.

I think about the sunset when I listen to Nocturne 1. I'd play the piano in a huge plain bordered by mountains, and a few clouds, thin and white like cirrus, are drawing lines in the deep blue sky. I'd play the piano eyes closed, just hitting the notes like I feel it, and I'd finish when I wouldn't feel the warmth of the sun on my face anymore, like the day ends when the sun crosses the horizon.

The mood I get while I listen to it is above all melancholic, I translate it as the sadness you feel when the light decreases and the warmth fades off as the night is coming. But the final non-tonic note is a ray of hope, telling us that this is not the end, but just an end, and that the cycle will start again tomorrow morning, dismissing the cold and the darkness.

At a greater scale, I'd see it as the sentence «Every dog has its day» translated in sound waves: good things always come on your way.

Enjoy folks, and if you feel like it, I'd like you to share your sensations too, here in the comments section or on my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/adda.ambient
