Hecq - I

Hecq — I

Опубликовано: 11 февр. 2015 г.Track 1/4, from Mare Nostrum (Hymen Records ¥832).

The introduction to Mare Nostrum is what it happens when two beings that don't know each other meet.

Ben Lukas Boysen was there to record the sounds of the supercomputer, but he didn't know MareNostrum, so they first had to tame each other. That's why the first part of this album is in my opinion the most abstract and raw from all, being the first contact between the artist and the computer.

Armed with a few microphones, the human had to find a way to interact with the machine first, understand its language to develop knowledge from a common foundation. You can hear in I the many tries to find the best way to communicate, where the recordings of mechanical elements from hard drives reader heads share the sounds of flowing electronic informations between central units, Serial-ATA wires and Ethernet cables.

The more the track progresses, the more focused and calm is the mood, just like we are on the verge of finding how to speak with the computer and how to understand the meaning of its sounds.

This is what I is for me. Taming, observation.

Enjoy folks, and if you feel like it, I'd like you to share your sensations too, here in the comments section or on my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/adda.ambient

Kostas Daikos and Vangelis Alexandris are the individuals behind the Greek project E-Mov. Kostas became interested in electronic music production during his student years which he spent mostly in the UK. With the experience he already had from many years of musical studies and as a performing guitar player in various bands he started composing various styles from lounge to drum'n'bass, over ambient to psychedelic. Vangelis, a wel known actor in Greece, spent many years djing in various events in Athens and performing in rock and ethnic bands either as vocalist or percussionist. It was in 2003 when they decided to team up, creating a blend of psychedelic and progressive music, largely influenced by ethnic and tribal elements. Guitars, male and female vocals and percussions were ingeniously incorporated. In 2009 they released their debut album at EQNation Records, leading to a fair amount of gigs all over Greece. In 2013 they are taking another step up the ladder and joined Belgian label Dacru Records. Their second full album 'The Journey of Pan' is scheduled for release with this label and is bound to win them some international recognition… https://soundcloud.com/emov https://www.facebook.com/emovproject

Subheim is the personal music project of Greek-born, Berlin-based artist Kostas Katsikas. Drawing from his experience in various bands as well as his current activities for film score and sound design, Subheim appears as a deeply personal experience in sounds, atmospheres and moods. May it be with the introvert electronica of his 2008′s «Approach» debut, the successful mixture of orchestral and jazz arrangements in 2010′s «No Land Called Home», or the experiments heard in various live sets and tracks ever since (including acoustic, contact-mic performances and more beat-driven material), Subheim is a project which draws its cohesion from the truly human touch of his author more than from a small array of sonic elements. One instantly recognizes a Subheim track, not necessarily because it sounds like another one, but because it feels like another one.

At times symphonic, at times fragile, Subheim's concerts are mesmerizing experiences which seduce their audience both with the encompassing sonic ingredients as with the daring experiments from which they are drawn. Strings, deep ambiences, reverberation, nostalgic synthesizers, vocals, acoustic percussions, field recordings and found objects have all played a part in Subheim's music (both in the studio and live). No two shows are the same, for while Subheim's releases are still few, this musician never ceases to create, experiment and refine his art.
