Rennie Pilgrem
As the son of a jazz trumpeter, Rennie Pilgrem could claim to have music in his blood! He started playing tenor saxophone in his youth immersing himself in 'black' music he formed various funk bands. In the late 80's after hearing the music coming from he Detroit scene, Rennie started to make house techno records with Rhythm Section aka Ellis Dee, Richard Thake and Nick 'Newton' Scott.

Their third release 'Comin' On Strong' was a anthem and would have charted top 40 if they'd known about 'bar codes' on records. With Ellis Dee the crowned king of rave DJs, Rhythm Section played at pretty much every main party between '90-92'. On the same bill as The Prodigy, Moby, Altern 8, Shades Of Rhythm and Bizzare Inc.

In 1993 Rennie founded TCR Recordings as a medium for putting out his own material. His first few releases were funky house with a smattering of breaks lurking in the background. Recording now as 'Thursday Club' he had a big tune with 'Thursday Theme' which was chased by Virgin. Rennie followed this up with 'A Place Called Acid' in 1995.

Rennie has remixed for a wide range of people from Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince to Freq Nasty and Arthur Baker.

B.L.I.M.
Gervase pays heed to his name as being a true Boy Lost In Music. His sound is a mish-mash of the evil warped bass tones and busy drum sounds of that of drum & bass, as well as the light paddy and electro-funk of trance and breaks. His began his career as a D&B producer for S.O.U.R and Emotif Recordings. In the past few years he has slowed the tempos but sped up the pace… releasing some of the most popular nu skool breaks tunes ever. One of his legendary release was with breaks master FreQ Nasty under the name High Prime. This Marine Parade release was one of the first global nu skool tunes. B.L.I.M's most recent breakbeat project is his label, Track Recordings. The labels' debut release was by him & Chris Carter and contains the tunes " I Am a Robot" and «Check It Out». With the amount of club and air-play these tunes have been getting, Track is most definitely a label to watch for in the upcoming months.

B.L.I.M. has also moved in on the TCR front with a massive collaboration with label-owner Rennie Pilgrem entitled «Eskimo». This humungous tune was named Muzik Magazine's 'Vital Release' in August, as well as included on several major mixed albums including Tayo's Y4K, Koma & Bones' Nu Horizons 2 and Lee Burridge's Global Underground: Nu Breed. B.L.I.M. had his DJ debut as the first artist in the IZM series on TCR with his Modernizm mix. Look for his full length artist album to drop later this year on TCR.

Thursday Tea Time Show

Alex Paterson
Paterson had worked as a roadie for Killing Joke during the '80s, and began to be influenced by the explosion of Chicago house music in England during the mid-to-late-'80s. He joined the A&R department of E.G. Records Ltd. Records — the home of Brian Eno himself — and first recorded as the Orb with Jimmy Cauty. The duo's first release as the Orb, the failed acid-house anthem «Tripping on Sunshine», appeared on the 1988 compilation album Eternity Project One.

Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty had been recording an album during the turn of 1989-90, but the two split in April 1990 — a result of Paterson's fear that the Orb had become known more as a KLF, The side-project than an original act. Cauty stripped Paterson's contribution to the recordings and released the eponymous album — credited simply as Space — later that year.

The Orb released several albums trough the '90s, including The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld, Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions (which were only available for one day but still managed to place in the Top 50) and Orblivion.

History
A classically-trained pianist and cellist from Cornwall, he met Richard D James (The Aphex Twin) in 1989. Learned the science of sound sampling and synth programming by observing Richard in the studio. This friendship lead to Tom co-producing a track for the 'Analogue Bubblebath' EP as Schizophrenia, which has now reached cult status. Tom introduced Richard to Mighty Force Records and helped broker the record deal for the EP.

After graduating in Graphic Design in 1991, Tom met Mark Pritchard, a Producer/DJ with similar musical tastes. The pair set up the Evolution Records imprint (which later became Universal Language Productions Ltd and the final incarnation as E3.)

They recorded under an number pseudonyms, from Reload (Techno and IDM), Global Communication (Electronica and Ambient) — notably developing the principal of integrating pure emotions in sound, Secret Ingredients (Deep House), and one of the most popular projects; Jedi Knights (Electro Boogie, P-Funk, Breakbeats, House), whose album 'New School Science' notably inspired the likes of The Prodigy (who sampled Jedi Knights 'Air Drums From Outer Bongolia' for their track 'Climbatize') and The Chemical Brothers to Daft Punk, The Freestylers and Adam Freeland.

Tom hosted a weekly Radio show on Kiss FM, tutored the winning aspiring DJ Ryan Shaw on ITV's Joy Of Decks TV show and has curated events and Festival spaces including Sound Of The Cosmos at The Big Chill 2011.

Keith Tenniswood, Simon Brown & Bass Junkie - GT Radio

Keith Tenniswood, Simon Brown & Bass Junkie — GT Radio

Опубликовано: 9 мая 2015 г.Keith Tenniswood (2 Lone Swordsmen), Simon Brown & Bass Junkie Haywire sessions (GT Radio).

One of many rare sets from the mysterious and highly guarded Archive Vaults from the Groovetech Radio (aka GT Radio) London studios. Little to *no* information regarding these broadcasts (tracklists, etc.) exist that I know of. If anyone can help me out w/ this information please hit me up!

Bass Junkie
(Battle Trax / Breakin / Electrix / Control Tower)

Phil Klein and electro go a long way back. A fan of electro and hip hop since 1982, Phil started Djing in 1986 and began making his own tracks the following year. As Cybernet Systems and Bass Junkie (his project since 1997), Phil has recorded for various imprints such as Touchin Bass, Audio Illusion Recordings and the infamous Control Tower run by Simon 'The Dexorcist' Brown and Radioactive Man, Keith Tenniswood.

Phil has a eagerly anticipated EP ready for 2004 release on Electrix, the dancefloor friendly electro label run by Billy Nasty, and is also signed to the London based Breakin Records run by electropop legend Ed DMX. Not content with releasing tracks on other people's labels, Phil has also run the internationally acclaimed Battle Trax imprint since 1996 and plans to release the debut LP from Kronos Device — a collaboration between himself and The Dexorcist — early this year.

His style is booming bass heavy electro that takes no prisoners; taking its inspiration from soundsystem shattering Miami Bass and also from the masters of old school electro such as Kraftwerk, Juan Atkins and Egyptian Lover. His machine funk skills have earned him invitations to play all over the world, both as a live act and a Dj. He has been the re-mixer of choice for the likes of Man Parrish and Radioactive Man.

Keith Tenniswood (better known as Radioactive Man and to most perhaps best as one half of Two Lone Swordsmen with Andrew Weatherall) is one of those cult status DJ’s – skirting the vanguards of rave culture serving as the UK’s figurehead of Drexcyian born electro. Speak to many a contemporary and they cite R_man as one of their major influences and a producer and DJ doing very much his own thing. Tenniswood was in fact the first UK rep to bring DJ Stingray over to the UK to his infamous Control Tower parties – his fierce 150 bpm militant electro label co-run with Dexorcist and still vehemently carries the flag for that magnificently heavy beat.

Over the years, he’s put many accolades to his name – credited with co-producing with David Holmes the award winning ‘Lets Get Killed’, engineering the live sound for Sabres of Paradise on the Primal Scream UK tour in 96, being among the first to contribute to fabric’s mooted mix series and for Tenniswood it’s still his Swordsmen era album ‘Tiny Reminders’ that is to this day one of his proudest moments.

Live, he’s performed in many stand out situations as Radioactive Man as resident at Bloc festival, regular sessions at London home from home fabric as well as international festival and club dates – a highlight being at Sonar in front of 8000 international music fans before Jeff Mills and Mad Mike. His resilience to stick with a full hardware set up is guarantees that his trademark warmth and personality envelopes the crowd making the best outlet for his raw machine funk sound.

Two Lone Swordsmen DJ set - Haywire Sessions on Groovetech Radio (2001-05-31)

Two Lone Swordsmen DJ set — Haywire Sessions on Groovetech Radio (2001-05-31)

Опубликовано: 23 мая 2015 г.Two Lone Swordsmen on Groovetech Radio in 2001.

The Two Lone Swordsmen are British house DJ and producer Andrew Weatherall and studio engineer Keith Tenniswood. Formed in early 1996, following the dissolution of Weatherall's influential Sabres of Paradise techno act, the Swordsmen have explored a variety of styles, from electro and 4/4 techno to post punk and downtempo in later years. Originally they released material on the label Emissions Audio Output, run by Weatherall. However, the small nature of the operation limited the duo's success and they subsequently signed to Warp Records, making them labelmates with acts such as Autechre and Boards of Canada, as well as setting up the Rotters Golf Club label for their more dancefloor-friendly output under various other guises.

In 2004 they released From the Double Gone Chapel, exhibiting more of a late 1970s dub and post punk sound than their previous work, influenced heavily by groups like PiL. It was released with the single Sex Beat, a cover of the popular Gun Club song. Their latest album, Wrong Meeting, was released in April 2007, with Wrong Meeting II following a month after. Set solidly in the dub rock vein they explored on From the Double Gone Chapel, the duo venture into sleezy country and LCD Soundsystem-style punk funk disco.
